Kids Cancer Project

Logan Treacy

We are very excited to announce that AttCall Civil Contractors are now in charity partnership with The Kids’ Cancer Project!

AttCall’s first move in supporting the national charity has been to wrap one of our trucks, affectionately known as “Justy’. AttCall will be donating 10 cents for every kilometre Justy travels.

“Justin was an employee of the Attcall team for approximately 11 years,” explains Clinton McKinnon, Owner and Managing Director of Attcall. “At 35 he was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer, he passed the same year.’

‘He has a young son who was only 11 years old at the time and witnessing the effect of losing the most prominent person in his life was quite devastating to me personally. Therefore I decided to dedicate one of our trucks to Justin so that I would always be reminded of the type of person Justin was and the way cancer effects all of us in different ways.”

We chose to support The Kids’ Cancer Project as we believe that the future is in the hands of our children, so to lose a child at the start of their life is not only devastating to family and friends, but the loss of a child today may also mean the loss of great change for the world in the future.

Black Dog Institute

Logan Treacy

Our Black Dog Institute truck is dedicated to a beloved employee and great friend, Charles ‘Huddy’ Simons.

Huddy worked for AttCall for over six years and moved through positions such as a labourer, watercart operator and a yardsman. Unfortunately, Huddy passed away in 2020 due to ill health and left a mark on us all.

The reason why we dedicate this truck to our great mate is because he was a man of a very few words. And, we like to think maybe if he spoke out for help he would be with us today. But he did not want to burden anybody with his own stress and kept to himself.

In honour of Huddy, AttCall will be donating 10 cents for every kilometre ‘Huddy’ travels.

Women in Construction

Logan Treacy

In 2022, the AttCall Group have committed to boosting diversity and female participation in the transport and construction industry. This has been achieved through a traineeship for either; Certificate III in Driving Operations or, Certificate III in Civil Construction & Plant Operations, with full training and assessments conducted in the field across multiple AttCall projects.

Upon completion of the traineeship, they will have obtained their HR license and be given the opportunity to upskill and obtain their HC license. In addition, the women completing their civil construction plant operations traineeship will have tickets for the operation of excavators, skid steers, dump trucks and more.

The first group of women undertaking the traineeships come from a variety of fields such as aged care, warehousing, aviation and traffic control. Each of the women have a burning drive to get into the industry but have struggled to find the opportunity!

The aim of these traineeships is to build upon existing Government initiatives which aims to double the number of women in trades and non-traditional roles.

We recognise the importance of providing career opportunities for these women to ensure our ongoing success and growth, all backed by the unique value that women bring to the transport and construction industry for years to come.

Positive Impact

“The Partnership we have with AttCall Civil Contractors is a truly unique one of which will create incredible positive impact for sick kids and their families who are experiencing tough times whilst going through serious illness and hospitalisation. It’s not a fun experience for sick kids.
They’re scared, lonely and often in pain. Starlight turns that around with fun, joy and laughter. But we can’t do that without the support of amazing organisations like AttCall.
The Starlight branded truck they have produced will certainly create a huge amount of awareness for Starlight, and hopefully will encourage donations from anyone who sees it – you can’t miss it really.
Clinton and all of the McKinnon family have proven to only have goodness and love in their hearts.
We are lucky to have them as a Starlight Partner, and can’t thank them enough for all they’re doing to help sick kids, teens and their families. And with the future opportunities we’re discussing for fundraising events, we’re sure the amount raised will definitely bring fun, joy and laughter to thousands of sick kids throughout Australia. Thank you AttCall and the McKinnon family.”
